June 17, 2009 - Recognized as one of California’s up-and-coming young lawyers, Lisa Yang was selected as a Rising Star in 2007 and 2009 by Super Lawyers magazine. Looking to broaden and hone her litigation skills Lisa joined Lim Ruger after working for a securities class action firm. Today she handles a wide variety of business, commercial and employment litigation. She was a significant player in a team that successfully litigated and settled a securities class action lawsuit for over $215 Million, and routinely defends employers in numerous employment claims to favorable outcomes. |

Lisa also finds tremendous satisfaction in working on cases to help victims and those less fortunate. Working with the Asian Pacific American Legal Center and Public Counsel, she found it personally meaningful to have helped Korean war veterans who were defrauded by a cemetery who had promised to develop a special Korean war veterans memorial park. As part of the legal team who brought a consumer fraud lawsuit and reached a very successful settlement, Lisa felt gratified that these elderly veterans were able to stand up for their rights. Moving to the “and much more” part, Lisa can be described as fun, effervescent, energetic, and fulfilled. Balanced might be another way to describe her. More than a successful lawyer, Lisa is a new mom, a community leader, and someone who enjoys life. |

You can quickly engage Lisa and get her to “beam” by asking her about Rebecca, her soon to be one year old daughter. “Hanging out with Rebecca is really fun,” she says. Animatedly Lisa explains that, “I was told motherhood would be a lot of work and yet really rewarding. Everything people told me was true, and then so much more! I don’t even mind the sleepless nights.” There is no doubt that this new dimension to her life is adding new rewards. Passion for the community is the other side of Lisa. For the last three years she has served on the Board of the Center for Pacific Asian Families who help victims of domestic violence. She is also a rising star in the community serving on the Board of the Korean American Bar Association since 2003 and leading the organization as its President in 2007. To balance things out, there is Lisa the golf lover. Even though a day of golf with her avid golfer husband David has had to wait a few months, she is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to take Rebecca out to the course for some family fun! |
