May 21, 2009 - Lim Ruger defended a major seafood distributor in a suit claiming that it interfered with a lease between a landlord and a tenant. After a five day bench trial, no evidence was introduced that our client caused any damage to the landlord. Instead, the tenant's criminal indictment and financial problems, not anything our client did, prevented the tenant from fulfilling the lease. But the trial court found liability and also imposed punitive damages. In May, the California Court of Appeal unanimously reversed, and ordered the trial court to enter judgment in favor of our client. Lim Ruger litigation partner Bruce Iwasaki worked with the appellate law firm Horvitz & Levy on the appeal. Lim Ruger is experienced in a wide range of business litigation issues.
