Yvonne Ballesteros - Passionate And Effective Advocate
| February 22, 2009 - Yvonne Ballesteros enjoys being a spokesperson and an advocate. As the eldest child in an immigrant family, she took on the role of being her family’s representative at an early age. Today, she continues to relish the role of being a champion for people and causes as an attorney at Lim Ruger. Just as she helped her family navigate through an unfamiliar culture as she was growing up, Yvonne helps her clients navigate through our complex (and sometimes intimidating) legal system as a litigation attorney at Lim Ruger. Yvonne is good at advocating for her family, friends, and clients. |

Yvonne recently successfully represented the tenants of a dilapidated apartment building in a class action lawsuit against the landlord and a victim of a fraudulent real estate investment scheme. Both cases ended with multi-million dollar settlement/verdict in favor of Yvonne’s clients. In those cases, Yvonne found that her ability to identify with her clients was an important asset in winning the clients’ trust and being an effective advocate for them. Yvonne is passionate about various social issues. Her eyes light up as she talks animatedly about California Assembly Bill 540, which created an exemption from the payment of nonresident tuition for certain undocumented immigrants and permanent residents of the United State. |

Recently, Yvonne has been working hard to raise scholarship funds for immigrant students at her alma mater, UCLA School of Law. She is currently a board member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association and is actively involved with the Marco Antonio Firebaugh Dream Fund which is administered by the California Community Foundation. In her spare time, Yvonne likes to cook traditional Mexican cuisine and play with Vito, her Doberman Pincher. Yes, Yvonne is a big fan of the movie The Godfather. |
